We have a number of students out on placement currently, with our valued industry partners. We are so grateful to our industry partners for providing these fantastic opportunities for students to get involved in live projects.
Some of our Y13 Digital students are currently on placement at Amazon. Luca contacted us yesterday to share how he is getting on:
Working at Amazon has been great! I’m working in a team, and we are doing VPN testing with Amazon's firesticks. I’ve also been paired with some really cool buddies(apprentices), my line manager is so helpful! The end goal is to automate a lot of the testing which has been fun so far. We’re getting the devices and routers today so we can finally begin on the testing. So far though we’ve mainly been preoccupied with the team task (build a website), asking for permissions to access tools and carrying out a bunch of research.
Another of our Digital T Level students is on placement at TechStart, Magnus writes:
During the first two days of my placement, I have already gained valuable experience and been involved in exciting projects. On the first day, we were assigned the task of developing a prototype website for a noodle restaurant looking to expand into the American market. Later that day, we were invited to attend a meeting with a company who are behind products such as WordPress and WooCommerce. We discussed different website hosting solutions for the website. On the second day, we continued developing the website and had to present our ideas and share progress for the brand identity in American with the designers. We were also given the opportunity to enjoy some complimentary noodles at the restaurant’s Covent Garden location! These first two days have already provided me with valuable insight into website development, branding, client collaboration, and the planning involved in expanding a business into a new market.
